Welcome to the Village of Walton Hills

Dunham Road Rehabilitation Project Complete, Ribbon Cutting Announced

MAPLE HEIGHTS & WALTON HILLS – The $3 million Dunham Road Rehabilitation Project is complete and a ribbon cutting ceremony has been set for Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 am. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the turnaround on the west side of Dunham Road across the street from 6351 Dunham Road in Maple Heights. Parking is available at Dunham Road Park (15005 Schreiber Road) and a shuttle will transport guests to the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Dunham Road Rehabilitation Project is a $3 million infrastructure improvement project developed and executed as a partnership between Cuyahoga County, the Village of Walton Hills, and the City of Maple Heights. Included in the Project scope were the repair, widening, and resurfacing of Dunham Road, sewer main and sanitary lateral repairs, and adding bike lanes in both directions. The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works contributed approximately $1.7 million to help make the Project a reality.

The Project also included repairs and resurfacing of Tinkers Creek Road in the Village of Walton Hills, at a cost of $275,000. The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works contributed $220,000 toward the Tinkers Creek Road portion of the Project. Walton Hills Mayor Donald Kolograf said, “On behalf of the residents of the Village of Walton Hills, I wish to thank our partners at the City of Maple Heights and Cuyahoga County on the successful completion of the Dunham Road Rehabilitation Project. Further, our Service Department led by Rob Kalman and our Engineer Joe Gigliotti of Chagrin Valley Engineering, Ltd. did a great job managing this project. This vital regional artery has been upgraded to current design standards that provides a safe multi-modal method of travel for all of our residents.”

The bike lanes are the first in the City of Maple Heights and establish a vital connection between the City of Maple Heights, the Village of Walton Hills, the Cleveland MetroParks Bedford Reservation, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Maple Heights Mayor Annette Blackwell said, “The Dunham Road Rehabilitation Project is a crucial step forward in the work of environmental justice and acting on the City’s commitment to racial equality. Equal access to outdoor recreation facilities, such as regional and national parks, is important for residents’ quality of life and health.”

Questions should be directed to the Village of Walton Hills at (440) 232-7800 and the City of Maple Heights at (216) 662-6000.

The Village of Walton Hills is a progressive and proactive community located in southeastern Cuyahoga County just north of the Summit County line. We are in close proximity to I-271 and the Route 8 expressway. We have a population of approximately 2,200 residents. The Village encompasses a total of 7 squares miles. Approximately three square miles of Cleveland Metroparks’ Bedford Reservation and part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park are located within the boundary lines of the Village.

The Village Officials consist of a Mayor, six Councilpersons-at-large, a Chief of Police, a Fiscal Officer, a Building Inspector and a Street Commissioner. A working contractual agreement with the Oakwood Village Fire Department serves the fire-fighting requirements of the Village and provides emergency medical service to the residents. Walton Hills is a semi-rural planned community. It is a community that provides its residents with the necessary services and affords them the opportunity of participating in planned recreational, social, business and civic organizations.
