Walton Hills Police responded to a call on July 7, 2020 at the Bridal Veil Falls in the Bedford Reservation of the Metroparks and performed a lifesaving rescue. The rescue was led by Officer Tom Cercek and assisted by Officer Brianna Molnar and Police Chief Stan Jaworski. Congratulations to the Police Department and their teamwork that saved the life of a brave little girl.  See the rescue below:

The Village’s Police Department is a “Community Oriented Policing” agency, offering its services to all of the residents, commuters and businesses in Walton Hills throughout the year with honor and integrity. The Village’s Police Department belongs to the Southeast Area Law Enforcement Task Force (SEALE). The seven member communities, which include Bedford, Bedford Heights, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Oakwood, Solon and Walton Hills, combine their resources forming special teams that are highly equipped to respond and address various difficult or developing situations as depicted below:

  • Bomb Squad
  • Child Abduction Response Team
  • Critical Incident Team
  • Medics
  • Narcotics Investigations
  • Special Communication
  • SWAT
Police Department Recruitment:

Mandatory Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be a citizen of the U.S.
  • Valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy state certification
  • Valid Ohio Driver's license
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills, good note taking and report writing, time management, and problem solving skills
  • Must have good physical ability, aptitude and policing skills
  • Must be able to maintain proficiency with a semi-automatic handgun and other required weapons
  • Must have sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
  • Ability to satisfactory complete a thorough criminal background investigation, drug test, firearms qualification, physical examination, polygraph or voice stress analysis and psychological evaluation
  • Must be available for flexible shifts to include: days, evenings, weekends, midnights and holidays
  • Possess good moral character
  • Basic computer skills
Walton Hills is part of the Oakwood- Glenwillow-Walton Hills Fire District, served by the Oakwood Village Fire Department. This full service Fire Department has a staff of four 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Fire Department consists of one Chief, one Assistant Chief, one Captain, two Lieutenants and numerous Fire Fighter/EMTs and Fire Fighter Paramedics, all of which are part-time.

In addition to fire suppression services, the Fire Department supplies the following services to the Fire District communities:

  • Paramedic Emergency Medical
  • Fire Prevention
  • Hazardous Materials Response
  • Above and Underground Storage Tank Inspection
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm System checks (both non-emergency and emergency)
  • CPR and Fire Safety classes
  • Fire Extinguisher Classes
  • Foster Care Home Fire Safety Inspections State
  • 911 Service – Fire and/or Squad

Home fire safety inspections and fire extinguisher training are available upon request.
